Soft Golden Glow

천년의 세월 동안 한반도에서 사랑받고 있는 유기(YUGI)는 고유의 은은한 금빛을 지녔습니다.

화려하게 반짝이는 금이나 동과는 다르게 은빛을 머금은 듯 부드럽고 은은하게 흐르는 컬러는 때로는 오브제로, 때로는 식기로 많은 사랑을 받고 있습니다.

1957년, 국가무형문화재 제77호 이봉주 유기장으로부터 시작된 ”납청유기(NAPCHEONG YUGI)“는 아들 이형근, 손자 이지호까지 3대에 이어 한국을 대표하는 유기 브랜드로 명맥을 이어오고 있습니다.

이지호 작가는 전통을 이어가는 동시에 현대에 맞게 재해석한 유기 작품으로 새로운 문화적 경험을 이어가려 합니다. 이번 전시에서 첫 선을 보이는 풍경놋상(LANDSCAPE TABLE)을 중심으로 일상생활에서 사용할 수 있는 오브제, 식기, 차도구로서의 유기를 선보입니다.

For centuries, Bangjja Yugi has been cherished in Korea for its distinctive soft golden glow. Unlike the brilliance of gold or copper, Yugi carries a subtle sheen and gentle warmth, making it valued both as an object and as functional tableware.

Founded in 1957 by Lee Bong-ju, Honorary Holder of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Korea (Bangjja Yugi Craftsmanship), Napcheong Yugi continues through three generations, from Lee Bong-ju to Lee Hyung-geun and Lee Jiho.

While carrying forward traditional craftsmanship, Lee Jiho explores contemporary interpretations of Bangjja Yugi. Centered around Landscape Table, presented for the first time in this exhibition, the collection introduces Yugi as objects, tableware, and tea tools for everyday life.

Created from a unique alloy of 78% copper and 22% tin, and shaped through thousands of strikes of the hammer, each piece embodies the enduring qualities and craftsmanship of Bangjja Yugi.
